Numerical investigation on NACA0012 airfoil with tubercular structure

Humpback whales have very special fins, which reduce the friction force by projections on fins and enhance lift with increasing angle of attack. Thus, it has opportunity to move less energy. In this study, tubular structure was formed adapted NACA0012 airfoil profile. Numerical modelling tubercle wing performed in ANSYS FLUENT. numerical modelling, k-ω SST Transition turbulence models were used investigate performance. The provided canalize flow cavities, thus separation decreased. Consequently, observed that aerodynamic performance increased when sinusoidal protrusions known as applied leading edge wing.
